TLB - TALKING LINUX FOR THE BLIND

The principal goal of this project is to develop a computer system that will allow independent reading, writing and online communication to all blind and partially sighted people of all ages in Croatia.
The main goal is to be achieved through:

- the construction of a computer which would be as cheap as possible, serving as the technical basis of the entire system
- Linux distribution design epitomized for the blind and partially sighted persons.
- The design of a basic application package (computer programers for reading, writing, email, news and web).
- The development and creation of a Croatian speech software that allows reading of digital documents in Croatian language.
- The design of a blind and partially sighted friendly interface.
- The web system integration aimed at blind people support.
- The support system is based on web volunteering. Here the blind persons can ask for any assistance.
- Establishing of the directions of further system development and development monitoring organization.

The system will be totally free for blind and partially sighted persons because it will be developed under the free GPL (open-source) license.
