The
team, guided by the idea of project development, was spontaneously
formed by students and undergraduates from different Croatian faculties
and universities. The common idea was to help to visually impaired people
using existent computer technologies and developing, at the same time,
the new ones. Most of the people, who have taken part in the project,
already know the problems the blind people face with. They have, therefore,
started the realization of similar ideas. When the guiding idea came
up, those individuals gathered together in this non-formal group.
At the second meeting of the blind students,
held at the end of November of 2000 organized by Croatian Association
of the Blind, the blind students expressed their own problems: communication
and marginalisation. Their opinion was that the way of getting out of
this situation could be found in use of the Internet and modern communication
technologies. Soon after that meeting, the students who were individually
trying to find out the possible solutions for the blind computer users,
contacted the Croatian Association for the Blind. They were interested
in the existent solutions and in present situation in Croatia. Before
long, a non-formal organization was founded and joined all individual
efforts into one project.
